About Me
My Design Philosophies:
Make design instinctive : create a product that takes as little thought as possible to use
Design for function before form: focus on solving the problem at hand and then improving upon that solution
Good design is experienced and not only seen: the designs that are subtle and solely become a part of the positive experience have a strong focus on information architecture
After graduating college with a degree in apparel merchandising/marketing and a business minor, I began my first career in buying and merchandising for a large retailer. It was a dream to begin working in the field I had studied for four years and it offered vast creative opportunities in designing and curating products. This position involved working with a team every day, as well as people from all over the world! Communication was key here in explaining my designs and vision to the vendors and artists to create for the most successful and efficient process. As an assistant buyer, I was also challenged every day with the goal to truly understand our customer in order to deliver on their desires and needs throughout the ever-changing seasons and trends.
As interesting and exciting as buying was, I began to realize I wanted to do more than only answer “what” the customer wanted, but also “why” they wanted it. I always had more questions and have a passion for empathizing with others. During the summer of 2020, I looked into different design avenues and focused on those that used design to contribute to a bigger purpose of problem solving. That is when I discovered UX/UI. Once I learned that this field combined the psychology of how our brains work when interacting with a product, discovering ways in which to improve those experiences, and creative thinking, I was intrigued to say the least. My desire is to work for a product team where I will create impactful interactions for their users and, therefore, impact the company positively in return. As one of my favorite Don Norman quotes states, “It is not enough that we build products that function, that are understandable or useable, we also need to build products that bring joy and excitement, pleasure and fun, and, yes, beauty to people’s lives.”
With my background in business and the addition of my continually evolving design skills, I have the ability to think outside the box in order to meet the needs of the business and deliver elite experiences for customers. I believe my skillset and unique professional background will prove I would be a strong addition to your team.
